Carum Basra

Carum has extensive experience driving impactful communications and advocacy on critical social and environmental issues.

Before joining di:ga, Carum was Deputy Director of Engagement at Unchecked UK, mobilising a diverse coalition of over 70 civil society organisations to advocate for robust regulatory protections.

Previously, he was a Director at Purpose Union, where he led advocacy for the Better Business Act campaign - successfully supporting more than 1,200 businesses united behind a vision of responsible corporate governance. His work secured national media coverage, influential stakeholder engagement, and the coordination of the UK’s largest business-led parliamentary lobby.

Carum began his career at FGS Global, a leading global strategic communications consultancy, advising clients across the technology, transport and telecoms sectors. He later moved to the Institute of Directors, where he helped shape policy and supported the establishment of the IoD Centre for Corporate Governance.

Carum holds an LLM with distinction in International Corporate Governance from Queen’s University Belfast and a BA in Politics from Goldsmiths, University of London. Outside work, he enjoys reading, cinema and the theatre.
