Launching public-interest AI on the global stage

Current AI

In early 2025, di:ga helped launch Current AI — a $400 million global partnership between governments, philanthropists and businesses — at the AI Action Summit in Paris, shaping the global conversation around public-interest AI.

With world leaders, CEOs, civil society, and major funders in the room, we had a narrow window to make the case that public-interest AI was an urgent and realistic alternative to commercially-driven models.

We developed the communications strategy and core launch narrative that needed to work across very different audiences simultaneously, from policy circles to financial media to civil society. We secured pre-briefings with AP, Wall Street Journal, New York Times and the Financial Times, building anticipation ahead of the announcement and ensuring the story landed with depth rather than as a press release.

At the Summit itself, we coordinated messaging across multiple partner organisations, supported the keynote and press launch, and managed amplification through LinkedIn and partner channels. We secured over 72 online and print placements across eight regions, and sustained engagement from global policymakers, researchers and industry figures in the days that followed. Current AI was cited as one of the concrete outputs of the Summit, establishing public-interest AI as a credible alternative.
