Food systems transformation

Global Alliance for the Future of Food

In-house cover and comms strategy for funders’ alliance

The Global Alliance for the Future of Food is a member-led network of philanthropic organisations working to transform food systems, reduce their impact on climate change, and improve food security. di:ga has had the pleasure of working with the Global Alliance since 2021, providing in-house cover as their Communications Lead, developing and implementing communications strategies, and helping them to deepen their understanding of how to use comms to drive change.

Ahead of COP27, di:ga helped launch Untapped Opportunities, which revealed that food systems receive just 3% of climate finance despite causing one third of greenhouse gas emissions. We secured strong media coverage, including in Le Monde, Bloomberg and CNBC Africa. In the run up to COP28 in the UAE, we also edited and launched the Power Shift report, which estimated that food systems account for at least 15% of all fossil fuels burned globally, and was covered by outlets including The Independent, Euractiv and Der Tagesspiegel.

To complement the two reports, di:ga produced social media videos which together amassed over 260,000 views, and developed messaging for advocacy and stakeholder outreach at both COPs. At COP28 countries are expected to pledge to include food in their climate action plans, a key ask from Untapped Opportunities.

It was a great experience working with di:ga. They provided vital support, asked tough questions, and left us with strong ideas and focus.
