Launching voter typologies

National Centre for Social Research

It was great fun to work with the respected and expert team at the National Centre for Social Research, including renowned pollster, Professor John Curtice, to launch six new voter typologies ahead of the July 2024 UK election.

We supported NatCen to rush out the research in response to the snap election called earlier than many expected. This involved helping refine the descriptions and names of the voter types, designing icons to illustrate them, and preparing a media and social media strategy for the launch. We then wrote the press release and prepared social content for launch day and beyond. We attended the launch event at Birkbeck, helping with logistics, media handling, and social media.

The initial launch was covered by leading UK media including the Telegraph, Independent, and Daily Mail. Professor Curtice was interviewed by Times Radio who then spoke to his colleague Lovisa Moller twice more in the run up to the election. We also generated interest and discussion among political bloggers and specialist newsletters including Politico’s London Playbook (twice), John Elledge’s newsletter, and Sam Freedman’s substack.

The research and associated content, including interactive constituency maps and a quiz for voters to find out which type they were, were well-shared and engaged with on X and other social media platforms.

di:ga were fantastic to work with. They got up to speed on the project incredibly quickly and delivered impactful media engagements, digital design and event coordination. Amy and her team have an impressive ability to ensure their expertise shapes the work, whilst still staying highly responsive throughout. They felt like part of our team and we wouldn't have been able to release our research in time for the election without them.
